Bernie Leads in Democratic Search Popularity
In light of the recent democratic debate, presidential hopefuls took the stage and contended their way through a three hour event. A debate that was immersed in desired reform, political jabs, and heated disagreements. The lengthy debate proved that very few contenders have the democratic attention. Even fewer candidates polled as strong presidential nominees to take on Donald Trump in the 2020 election.
According to Fox News polls, The three front runners that scored the highest in the political polls were Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders. Joe Biden being the most favorited presidential nominee, Bernie Sanders coming in second, and Elizabeth Warren coming in third.
However, A Google Trends Analysis paints a different picture of popularity. Bernie Sanders maintains a slight lead over Joe Biden in Google searches in almost all states. Joe Biden is a popular search in Mississippi and Delaware, and Elizabeth Warren is a favorite in Massachusetts.
Despite Joe Biden receiving the most media coverage and popularity among democratic polls, Bernie Sanders seems to sightly overshadow Joe Biden in internet searches.
Although a popularity in internet searches doesn’t mean a democratic favorite, the presidential race is more than a year away. It will be interesting to watch how this changes and impacts the 2020 polls. Future democratic nominees might extend beyond the top three favorite democratic contenders.
Biden leads Trump!
Earlier this month, President Trump had denied conspiracy theories and any involvement in the allegations put forth against former vice president Joe Biden and his son. As the media mounted pressure, Trump acknowledged complicity in the matter. He admitted to raising corruption accusations against Joe Biden during a phone call with Ukrainian leader, Volodymyr Zelenskiy. However, Trump doesn’t seem to care. In a recent CNN article, Trump states “Everybody does it.”
Joe Biden fired back in his presidential campaign, rebuking claims that president Trump imposed on him.
A GoogleTrends analysis of both Joe Biden and Trump display Biden leading in popular searches. Biden leads Trump, often displaying spikes of popularity, two spikes being when the allegations were imposed. Trumps’ searches have remained constant and have began to drop in the recent weeks.
Upon first glance by subregion, Biden nor Trump come out on top. They both seem to dominate popularity in The United States evenly, even though numbers conclude that Biden is a leading contender for popular searches.
It will be interesting to see how these allegations will continue to play out and if they will become a part of the 2020 presidential election. These spikes in internet searches display United States citizens looking for truth. This allegation scandal is a misuse of power in order to damage a political opponents image.
